Policy Statement
The Neftaly Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) is responsible for ensuring that all former Neftaly Human Capital members are able to access their Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) benefits in accordance with South African labour legislation. This is achieved through the accurate and timely issuance of the UI19 Form, which is a mandatory document required by the Department of Labour for UIF benefit applications.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that:
- Former Neftaly Human Capital members are supported during employment termination
- UIF benefit claims are processed efficiently and lawfully
- Neftaly remains fully compliant with the Department of Labour and UIF regulations
- All required documentation is issued without delay
Scope
This policy applies to:
- The Neftaly Chief Human Capital Officer
- Neftaly Human Capital Department
- All former Neftaly Human Capital members (employees, interns, contract staff, and temporary workers)
Responsibilities
Neftaly Chief Human Capital Officer
The Chief Human Capital Officer shall:
- Ensure that UIF records are properly maintained for all Neftaly Human Capital members
- Authorise and oversee the preparation of the UI19 Form for all employment terminations
- Ensure that UI19 Forms are issued promptly upon termination of service
- Verify that all employment information is accurate and complete
- Support former Neftaly Human Capital members in understanding UIF application procedures
- Ensure compliance with the Department of Labour UIF legislation
Neftaly Human Capital Department
The Human Capital Department shall:
- Prepare and complete the UI19 Form for every terminated employee
- Capture accurate employment history, earnings, and contribution details
- Provide the UI19 Form to the former Neftaly Human Capital member immediately after termination
- Keep records of all UIF-related documentation
- Liaise with the Department of Labour when required
Procedure
- Upon termination of employment, the Human Capital Department shall initiate the UIF exit process.
- The employee’s employment details, contribution history, and termination reason shall be verified.
- The UI19 Form shall be completed and signed by the Neftaly Chief Human Capital Officer or authorised representative.
- The UI19 Form shall be issued to the former Neftaly Human Capital member.
- The former Human Capital member shall submit the UI19 Form to the Department of Labour when applying for UIF benefits.
- Neftaly shall provide any additional supporting documentation required by the Department of Labour.
Compliance
Failure to issue the UI19 Form may result in non-compliance with UIF legislation and may negatively impact former employees’ ability to access their lawful benefits. Neftaly commits to full compliance with all UIF and Department of Labour requirements.
Review and Amendments
This policy shall be reviewed annually or when there are changes to UIF legislation or Department of Labour regulations.
